This is a targeted intervention in which an animal, in this case a dog, meets specific criteria and participates in a treatment process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dog as a therapy animal can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Aid the recovery process <\/li><li>Provide insight into your own behavior<\/li><li>Increased observation capacity<\/li><li>Increase confidence<\/li><li>Encourage more social interaction with other people<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This results in an improvement in the psychological, social, emotional, behavioural, cognitive and \/ or physical functioning of the owner. Various animal species are used for this, with dogs and horses topping the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working together and \/ or living with dogs has, in addition to all other effects, a positive influence on social contacts.
