Professional training for practitioners who want to perform Animal Assisted Interventions together with a therapy animal.
A Therapy Animal Practitioner and a suitable, well-prepared animal form a professional human–animal team. Together they work purposefully for other people in settings such as healthcare, education, social care, coaching, companies, libraries and visiting programmes.

What do you learn?
- the basic principles and various forms of AAI;
- set goals and professionally prepare interventions;
- recognizing behavior, body language, and stress signals;
- monitor safety, hygiene, ethics and animal welfare;
- tailoring activities to the target audience and work context;
- set boundaries, provide moments of rest, and stop in time;
- observe, report and evaluate the operation;
- collaborating professionally with organizations and other stakeholders.
Active therapy animals
This professional programme focuses on working with active therapy animals: together, the animal and the Therapy Animal Practitioner deliver goal-directed interventions for other people, usually at different locations.
Practice, evaluation and quality
The programme combines theory with practice-based preparation. The development of the human–animal team, professional conduct and animal welfare are monitored throughout. Work in a specific context may require additional screening and certification .
Collaboration
