The yellow dog / The yellow ribbon

January 19, 2021 by Admin

The yellow ribbon indicates that the dog needs space from other dogs and/or people.

But what are the pros and cons of the yellow ribbon?

Advantages

  • You no longer have to ask people as often to keep their dog on a leash.
  • You no longer need to ask in advance not to pet your dog (immediately).
  • Your dog gets space and quiet for whatever reason.
  • As an owner, you can feel more at ease, and you pass this on to your dog.

Disadvantages

  • The yellow ribbon can (unconsciously) trigger a startle response in passing dog owners.
  • Other people need to know the meaning of the yellow ribbon: a question or a brief explanation is always welcome.
