Diego, one of the therapy dogs of the non-profit organization therapy animal. His mission? To offer patients a cheerful boost in both their physical rehabilitation and their emotional well-being.
Playful recovery with extra motivation
In the pet pavilion, Diego had his first session after a thorough introduction to the team. What followed was a remarkable interaction between dog and human: patients were allowed to play with dog toys while being guided through motor exercises. The result: fun and functional recovery in a single session!
A boost for well-being and morale
Diego's presence does more than just train muscles. The cheerful wagging tail, treats, and playful energy bring uplifting moments to the sometimes heavy hospital routine. For patients, this provides a much-needed emotional boost—something important that the hospital consciously supports.
Besides Diego, Tiga and Tori are also working in the hospital.
Why such an initiative fits Sint-Trudo
- Holistic careSaint Trudo focuses on more than just medical treatment. Attention is also given to emotional support, social needs, and well-being, as is also evident from their psychosocial services.
- Multidisciplinary approachjust as the center for pain management and rehabilitation is supported with high-quality infrastructure, animal-assisted therapy also fits within that framework.
